Shelter Support Volunteer
At Simpson Community Shelter & Apartments, we walk alongside guests as they work to get stabilized back into safe and sustainable housing. Shelter Support Volunteers are part of Simpson’s person-centered approach to supporting people impacted by homelessness. Volunteers build meaningful relationships with shelter guests and assist shelter staff as part of a unique community of care, helping to create a sense of home, safety, and welcome for people impacted by homelessness.
Once trained, volunteers commit to 2 shifts a month in a six-month time period. Volunteers use our online scheduling system to choose evening shifts, morning shifts, or a combination that works best for them.
Evening Shift: 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Evening tasks include distributing supplies, engaging with guests, doing laundry, serving coffee, enjoying dinner with guests, and much more!
